Would u spend the freezing in Puno?

I know is a little bit late, but last Gubler's post* got me thinking "If only the monster spiders were able to sping blankets and sweaters for the children of Puno"... Why? - you may ask. While the front pages and headlines of the most important newspapers in Lima, Perú covering news about H1N1 (swine flu) in the country, there's no much about the children who have died due the seasonal flu caused by the low temperatures in the southern part of my country, especially in Puno region. "Supposedly Perú is growing at fast rate, but there are children dying of pneumonia, people infected with tuberculosis..." (quote:León Huarancca).
What especially troubles me is that authorities are looking the other way until the number of deaths are shamefully high and on top, and using the misery of others for political purposes: let's see:
Total amount of time dedicated to the AH1N1 flu virus: 41 minutesTotal amount of time dedicated to the death of dozens of Peruvian children because of the cold weather: ONLY ONE MINUTE (on the Thursday news broadcast)
And what is worse, the Health Minister who publicizes the strategy against the swine flu, does not have any information (minimal, no?) about the plan to fight/prevent/treat the consequences from the yearly cold spell that grips the children from high-altitude Andean regions.
So, please, do not wait another year to start knitting sweaters, scarves, socks and hats. Seize the offseason and get ready to shelter Puno kids, when you make your shopping, buy a non-perishable (long-term as canned) or a bottle of antibiotic (in the popular pharmacies costs no more than 3 Nuevos Soles - less than a dolar).

Remember, a blanket can save the life of a child. Together we can make a difference.
In our congregation we are receiving donations, not only for Puno, also food for the poorest areas of the capital. Every Sunday, we took what we call "a kilo of love" join us and help us to help others.
